Materials: I used water color, colored pencil pencil, and ink pen to make this image.

Processes:  First I drew the image of the man in the foreground, and then filled in the scene of the battle in the background which became steadily farther away and ended at the church in the distance. I used the most detail up front.

Ideas: This picture is supposed to depict the battle of Sardarabad, where The Church of Etchmiadzin (in the background) was saved and defended from invasion as well as greater Armenia.

  1. From critique: "How can I show the history of the A church and the effects it has on 'my people'" (Allison suggestion).( I agree that makes it much more interesting. What does the church mean to you and why are you doing this topic. How can the subject become more of an investigation and less of an inquiry or topic.)
She likes the way it is becoming more personal with the first being Jesus in the corner then people becoming more identifiable.

I think the pieces will be easier to critique when you turn in your word doc next week with all in order. I like that you might integrate the wheel idea (broken wheel symbolizes....whatever Allison said, lol)

I like that you are telling a chronological story, I know I suggested a connection between the last piece and your new pieces because so much time will have passed. (Maybe the deportation you mentioned as people are displaced but still have the church as a beacon or leading them in their hearts?)
Andy loves how your portfolio is going. He loves the child-like simplicity and thinks maybe your goal is less depressing and more of a celebration of the church. I think if that is the case you can show the chronology but put a more positive spin on the next ones. Like I say, it'll be easer to tell when you get these in order. Please upload the doc. You can use anything and turn it into a pdf, I believe.

    1. You gave yourself a 77 in the rubric, I am giving you an 80 but you need to improve your photo skills. For instance, this couldn't be used for the college board because of the cropping. It will be a shame to have to retake all of the photos for uploading so try to make your posts a finished shot. Of course if you make changes and then the grade will go up.
Tape your art to a wall that has no direct sunlight and take the photo. fyi
