 Process: I used pencil to outline the drawing, and then filled in using ink pen and water color to create the different shading, cast shadows, and values in the stone. I used contrast, and straight lines as well. Materials: I used brown ink, gold leaf, watercolor, and pencil This is supposed to convey the important event of consecrating holy oil, which is then sent to Armenian Churches all over the world

  I first used pencil  to draw the outline for the piece. After i filled in the colors and shading with watercolor. For the background i used the cross-hatching method with a brown ink to make the background. This is supposed to represent the consecration of the holy oil that takes place in Etchmiadzin in order to help show its importance to to all Armenians seeing as this oil is used in the church ceremonies most Armenians experience.

 I used watercolor to create the different shades with the marble. I layered it in top of other colors in some places to achieve this. I also used a pencil to outline all of this

 This is the scene of the blessing of holy oil for the holy martyrs. I used pencil and water color. I will use brown pen as part of the next step.

Materials: I used water color, colored pencil pencil, and ink pen to make this image. Processes:  First I drew the image of the man in the foreground, and then filled in the scene of the battle in the background which became steadily farther away and ended at the church in the distance. I used the most detail up front.  Ideas: This picture is supposed to depict the battle of Sardarabad, where The Church of Etchmiadzin (in the background) was saved and defended from invasion as well as greater Armenia.

 This is supposed to depict the soldiers fighting and dying at the battle that took place outside of the church. This figure is my current progress.

  This image depicts the church of Etchmiadzin during the time of the Soviet Union. The grey represents the both the secular aspects of Soviet rule, and the Soviet Union as well, but also the despair of the Church and it's institution at thi time while the new communist government dismantled and restricted the activities and teachings. This also represents how the church physically fell into disrepair at this time along with how the leadership was not allowed to be filled. I used black ink, pencil, an ink pen, and water pens to make this. I first drew the outline of the church, and then used a black and white version of the image from photoshop to understand how the shadow and colors would look in black and white. I then used cross-hatching with the pen, and the water pens, as well as ink in the water pens to fill in the different shades and backgrounds, as well as to blend effectively.

  Materials: brown ink, black ink, pencil, paintbrush, water pen, ink pen Process: I first used a grid to draw the figure and then I pressed him onto the page, After this, I filled in the church in the background. I used the ink pen to cross hatch different amounts of ink onto the figure and church, this resulted in the different shade on his robe and in the background.  Ideas. This portrait is of Catholicos Kevork the fifth also known as the “sorrowful” this picture is the first part of a three piece story in my portfolio. In this photo, so have him sitting in his seat of power, The church of Etchmiadzin. This church is where he governed and guided the Armenian church through the Armenian genocide. He kept 70,000 refugees at this church. I depicted him here because wit is the start of the story of the battle of sardarabad where this church was under threat. When advised to leave for his own safety, he refused, hence why he is sitting in the church, as he was it’s head.

 This is my finished piece. I used a Paintbrush for the ink in the background to give it a solid look. I also used water pens for the stone. For the man, i used black ink and hatched the lines to give him color and texture.

 I used a grid to draw and transfer an image of the man onto the paper. I drew the interior of the church behind him, and used the ink pen using varying amounts and types of strokes to get different tones. I then used water pens to blend this. I did the same with the black ink as well.

I am using the grid method to realistically draw and add details.

 I put St. Nerses being ordained in the center space being ordained in front of etchmiadzin. This is to symbolize a new era for the Physical Church itself, and the Armenian church/people as a whole. I used colored pencil, sharpie, and mineral spirits for this piece.I used the colored pencil to first put down the basic color and in-fill for the figures. I then used the mineral spirits to blend it together, and add realism to the spoke, I did not use the spirits on the church to give it a rough stone feeling, and to show a transfer from the watery image of the vision in the first piece to the solid institution the church had become at this time. I used the sharpie to highlight St. nerses.

 I wanted to show the vision of etcmiadizin given to the Armenian people (Specifically St. Gregory)  from God so that they could build it. I used colored pencil, mineral spirits, water color,  and ink pen. I used the ink to create a shimmering feel to the image so that it would feel more like a vision. i used the water color for the rays of light emanating to show that it is coming from God, and the pencils to create solid ground.
